Topic: Pre-Employment Screening: Reducing Your
Risks Through Better Practices

The presentation would cover all aspects of pre-employment screening including education verification, degree verification, and prior employment verification. Criminal background checks will only be a portion of what Jeffrey will discuss (the majority of our company's findings are typically in dishonesty regarding education and prior employment, not necessarily criminal history).

Jeffrey M. Klink is the President of Klink & Co., Inc., an international risk-consulting firm with offices in the United States and affiliate offices in the Caribbean, Asia, Europe, and Australia.  Mr. Klink also founded KlinkCheck in 2005 to meet the demand for high-quality background screening services.  Prior to forming Klink & Co. in 2001, Mr. Klink was named a Managing Director for Kroll Inc., a publicly traded corporation that performed consulting services, and was also a criminal prosecutor with the United States Department of Justice in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office. 

Mr. Klink has undertaken due diligence, employee misconduct and corporate malfeasance investigations for investment banking firms, public universities, law firms, and corporations around the globe.  Mr. Klink has helped clients establish national and international background check protocols and policies.  Mr. Klink earned law and undergraduate degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, after which he spent three years as an Assistant District Attorney, and seven and a half years with the United States Department of Justice as an Assistant United States Attorney.  As an AUSA, he prosecuted bank fraud cases, narcotics cases, insurance fraud matters, money laundering cases, environmental crimes cases, and defense fraud cases. 

Mr. Klink has made numerous media appearances, and is a frequent speaker on background screening, employee misconduct investigations, due diligence, litigation support and fraud.  In his role as a business consultant, Mr. Klink has appeared on the Fox National News and has appeared as a featured guest on hour-long segments of the New York-based Bloomberg Radio Network.  He hosted “Due Diligence”, a weekly show on KQV Radio in Pittsburgh, where his guests were business leaders from the national business and legal communities.  He co-authored two articles on trade secret protection that were published in the National Law Journal, co-authored an article on healthcare fraud for an American Bar Association healthcare journal, and wrote for magazines, including SBA and White Collar Crime Fighter.  He has been qualified in Pennsylvania as an expert witness on fraud on several occasions.  In the past Mr. Klink was the featured speaker at the annual federal and state judiciary dinner in Western Pennsylvania and a lecturer at the annual American Bar Association’s Intellectual Property meeting in Houston. He provided Continuing Legal Education training to members of the Pennsylvania and Ohio Bars in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 discussing labor and employment issues, fraud in bankruptcies and turnarounds, due diligence, and conducting corporate investigations.  In 2004 he spoke about conducting investigations at the Association of Certified Fraud Examiner’s annual conference in Las Vegas.  He will be speaking to Pennsylvania labor lawyers in the summer of 2007 on workplace violence and to SHRM on employee investigations in the fall 2007 in Fort Worth, Texas.
